Happy New Year!....
2012....I know it's late to make a Happy new year post but hey! I kind of forgot about my blog :S It's start of a new year and time to throw away bad habits of yesterday and focus on the future! first of all... this year I have to blog more...hahah let see how long that lasts....
Anyway, since the new year I have accomplished quite a lot... travel wise. I have had the chance to visit the very cold Finland for the Christmas holidays and also made my way to friendly Portugal and Spain for my winter holidays.
Travelling is by far my favorite pass time.... there is just something about meeting new people and seeing new "things" that excites me.
Finland = Mini Reunion :)
Two and a half years ago, I was an exchange student in Taiwan and met some Finnish people. It was my first encounter with the Finns and I must say Finns and Canadians = friends for life! We share background with the weather (although I come from Vancouver, which it's half as cold as Helsinki) and we love hockey! We also share the mysterious story of Santa Claus (he is Canadian BTW) but lives in Lapland, Finland, Apparently, and many animals like reindeer, beavers....etc. BUT The specie of Finnish humans are one of a kind!I am not stereotyping or making generalizations but simply just sharing my encounters... The Finns have a certain look and attitude. Icy cold, as they are known, is only the exterior. Behind those ash blond locks and light coloured eyes, there lies a exceptionally warm and friendly person! my favorite thing about them is that they speak English perfectly but with a super adorable accent :D
Anyways, now on to the specifics of my Christmas Vacation. I went to Finland to visit my deer friend Olli (pronounced like Ol-li)and it was an experience I will never forget! I was immerse in the Finnish culture and actually felt right at home. Finnish Christmas traditions, Finnish food, Finnish ways of life, and Finnish parties.....baa too fantastic.
well since pictures equals to a thousand words.... I will shower you with some:

Yes... it does look very cold... and it was! On this trip I also learned a new saying... "Black Christmas"! all the Finns were very worried that they will have a "Black Christmas", a Christmas with no snow. As a Vancouverite, I found that very funny because I am so used to not having snow for Christmas, so the so called "Black Christmas" is just any other Christmas for me.... and for the Finns it's the contrary.
This trip was amazing and I was able to experience a new culture and observe the people. I would come back to Finland again but next time it will be in the Summer, so I get to see what's under that blanket of snow :)
Details of Portugal and Spain will be exposed in the next post, soo look out for it!
Bisous!
