The move to Finland and now the end

After graduating from my Bachelor's degree in Fashion and Apparel design, I had a life crisis where I did not desire to go straight to work in the industry. What ended up happening was that I took a year off working two jobs to save up for a trip to europe then ended up teaching English in France for a year. When my term with the ministry of education in France was up, I again had no desire to return to Canada, so I looked for any opportunity to stay in Europe.

In one of my previous posts, I wrote about my trip to Finland for Christmas to meet up with Finnish friends that I met during my exchange in Taiwan. That trip provoked my to consider Finland as my next destination. This may sound romantic but I assure you it wasn't, one of the reasons that I wanted to move there, other than the great education system, was L.O.V.E. I fell in love with a Finnish boy and wanted to be closer to him. BUT the main and most logical reason was that I got accepted into Aalto university school of Art, Design and Architecture's Master's program in Fashion and Clothing design. This was an opportunity that I could not turn down due to the fact that I get to further explore the fashion industry and that I had access to world class education for free. I must say that following my heart was the best decision I've made two years ago, even-though I never ended up with the Finnish boy and got my heart broken.

Now two years later, my time in Finland is coming to and end. I have made amazing friends and great memories which I will remember and treasure forever. This is not good-bye, Finland, but rather a see you later because I know deep down inside that this is the country that suits me best.

Summer 2014: Juhannus Fun :)
