The small town life... non, merci! but what a great experience it was.
So..... 7 months has passed and now I am packing my bags to leave Quimperle. I would describe these months as a prolonged vacation. Working here as an english assistant, 12 hours a week, gave me a lot of free time to do "n'importe quoi!". Most of that time was spent moping around, thinking about my future, learning french, learning the french lifestyle and travelling but other times I was milking cows, making bread, baking, cooking, running in the forest, making french friends, going to the Atlantic coast and bla bla bla leisure stuff. I had a great time but living in this small, beautiful and quaint city made me realize small cities just aren't for me and never will be. It's boring and slow where there is exactly one bar to go to every weekend, one movie theater, and one library that is only open 4.5 days out of 7, nothing that's inspiring..... I became a snail in this environment. The first three months here was exciting because everything was new and different but after that the excitement was lost.
It's now the last couple of weeks of my stay here, and can't wait to move on! my bags are packs and I am counting down the days to start exploring other parts of France and Europe! but before I go, I must say my Au-revoirs to the gracious Kervizic family who has taken me under their roof, assisted me with my french, and taught me the french ways of life. They are MY french family and will always be!
Thanks Marc and Montaine for having me in your home...et les enfants Anna + Gilda + Marine for sharing your fortress with me.
Bisous,
N
